Afterlife

I was walking home from school today.
As I turned onto 12th Street, there was a cream colored heap in the road.
As I got closer, I realized it was a cat.
A Ragdoll, my all time FAVORITE breed.
I couldn't help but hold back tears.
He wasn't flattened, simply lying there in a pool of blood.
But what sickened me the most was the look on his face.
It was shear terror/shock. Forever frozen on his soft little muzzle.
When the road was clear, I placed a flower on him.
I continued down the street, towards my house.
There wasn't much I could do.


I drew this while listening to Afterlife, by Avenged Sevenfold, hence the quote above the picture.
It sickens me how we humans disgrace the death of an animal.
At least my parents care.
If an animal crosses the street as we're driving, we stop a block away to let him go.
I don't know how many possums, raccoons, squirrels etc. I see as I walk down 12th.
It's the hellhole for animals.
Rest in peace, kitty. You and your furry friends.
